Do I need planning permission prior to an install?

No, you probably don't need planning permission to upgrade your home with a heat pump.

However, there may be some situations where you may need it. Here are the things to watch out for (please refer here for the rules in Scotland).

- Your heat pump must pass a noise assessment so that it does not disturb your neighbours.

- Your heat pump needs to be far enough from your neighbour  (no restrictions in England and 3m in Wales).

- Your home is in a conservation area.
