How much is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) grant?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a government grant towards the cost of switching to a heat pump in England and Wales. How much you get depends on the heating system you're replacing:

  • £7,500 if you're switching from gas.
  • £9,000 if you're switching from oil or LPG. This higher amount is available from July 2026 until the end of March 2027.

We apply for the grant on your behalf once you've paid your deposit. It usually takes 1–2 weeks, and we'll chase it through and keep you updated. You'll get an email from Ofgem as part of the process – that's expected.

If you're in Scotland, see our article on the Home Energy Scotland (HES) grant and loan scheme.
