What is a Design Consultation and why do I need it?

The Design Consultation is an in-person visit to your home by your assigned Heat Geek. It typically takes 2–3 hours and includes:

  • A full heat loss calculation for every room, following MCS standards
  • Assessment of your existing radiators, pipework, and electrical supply
  • Assessment of outdoor space and unit placement options
  • Noise assessment (MCS 020)
  • Discussion of your preferences, budget, and any constraints
  • A detailed written design proposal and fixed-price quote, usually delivered within 1-2 days

A Design Consultation is essential because heat pumps must be correctly sized and designed for each individual home. Unlike a boiler, you cannot simply swap one in without proper design work - an incorrectly sized or designed system will be inefficient and may not keep your home warm. The £250 fee reflects the significant professional time involved.
